However, there is no live view and you can’t control as much as you can with the Nikon software but it can control shooting a bracketed range of pictures and generating an HDR image. There is GPS support and a HUD-style panel to show the metadata. Check it out and see what you think.

Give this program (http://stefan.hafeneger.name/2009/04/29/nikon-control-beta-3/#more-113) a try. It is created using the same software that Nikon uses to make Capture NX. It is beta and is buggy but it works great. Full control of shutter speed, aperture, white balance, iso and metering from the computer. Can bracket, time release and burst too. can then import to Aperture and iPhoto. Give it a shot.
Just a tip, it took me a bit to figure out how to get it working but make sure your camera USB is set to MTP/PTP, and then turned on. Connect with a USB cable and the software should recognize it.

is there a program like this for a fujifilm s100fs by chance?
