It won't go past the first screen in Quickpwn.

When I pust it into DFU mode pwnage tool says I failed to do it and asks me if I want to try again

do you have SDK 3 installed? Myself and a few others found this happened when we installed SDK 3, and I think iTunes 8.2 might have the same effect.
Yep - confirmed iTunes 8.2 also breaks Pwnage/QuickPwn form seeing the iPhone

Any ideas?

You're using a unibody MB/MBP or any other mac running 10.5.6 or later and haven't installed the USB hack to allow the mac to recognise an iPhone in DFU mode?

10.5.7 fixes any DFU problems you may have with quickpwn. I suggest updating to that, and then try it again.
