Hi all,
So I have an imac thats connected to a wireless router and I want to place some wireless speakers outside on my patio. Does anyone know of a good brand that works easily and is fairly cheap. My ultimate goal is to be able to use my ipod touch over wifi to control the music and what not.
Thanks for your help!

I got my two pairs from craigslist. Got these (http://www.amazon.com/JBL-Northridge-N24AWII-Weather-Resistant-Bookshelf/dp/B0000632G5/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1242872561&sr=8-1) JBL Northridge N24AWII for $60, and these Klipsch (http://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-KHO-7-Outdoor-Loudspeaker-White/dp/B0011YR8UE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1242872683&sr=8-1) KHO-7 for $200.
One set is hooked up to an Airport Express and an amplifier, the other connects directly to my computer. Both are controlled via the Remote app from my iPhone. Works like a charm.

Thanks, however I would prefer wireless because my imac isn't that close to the patio...

Buy an Airport Express. Then either connect self-powered monitors to the AE or and amp and passive speakers.

That's not exactly what I was was looking for either. I just want to be able to move the speakers around outside and such. I'm looking for a wireless transmitter than can connect to my iMac and the speakers can be outside.

Try an airport express hooked up to a Griffin Evolve (http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/evolve). Airport express and Griffin base station live inside -- speakers are completely portable -- iPod Touch or iPhone as remote control.

Try the Yamaha NX-802 there Bluetooth 2.0 EDR, I've got it paired to the nokia AD-42W which is also 2.0 EDR, so I get great quality and just under 100m range.
I haven't tried it but I can't see any reason why you can't pair it directly to the Mac, as from memory they also support 2.0 EDR.

Can you not just use these: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Digital-Wireless-Auto-tuning-Speakers-Vivanco/dp/B000RICN6E/ref=pd_cp_ce_1?pf_rd_p=136153791&pf_rd_s=center-41&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B0015QT14O&pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_r=1FK0XG1DXTH7SKP7D4SG
Plugged into your iMac then use the iPod as a remote to control your iTunes music on the iMac?
