So, within the past year I have become a maniac for certain televisions shows and well i'm caught up on all of them and now I need some new ones to watch.

I'm looking for shows that are pretty much a continuous plot (I think thats what its called) and not something where every episode is of different theme so to be speak. I'll list the shows that i've been watching and maybe iit'll be more clear.

24
Dexter
The Closer
LOST
One Tree Hill

Any suggestions? I think i've forgotten something I watched and i'll update it later if I remember..

cheers

TV shows I would recommend:

Chuck
The, Big Bang Theory - Mondays NBC (best 30 min. spent)
House - Mondays
Castle - Mondays
In Plain Sight - Sundays
Psych - Fridays USA network
Ghost Whisperer - Fridays CBS
NCIS - Tuesday CBS

How I Met Your Mother - best 30 minutes spent after Big Bang Theory
Lie to Me isn't bad
Dollhouse is ok but it's getting old

I don't watch a lot but two I think are good at the moment:

Breaking Bad (coming to end of second series)
Mad Men (third series due to start around Sept)

You can always pick up the DVDs or buy them from iTunes 🙂

I don't know how deep you want to reach, but I am in the middle of watching Twin Peaks, a short lived show from the 90's by David Lynch. Some call it the best show ever on television, and many consider it to be the spiritual predecessor to LOST - it has the same kind of mysterious "what's really going on here" feeling. It has a "continuous" plot through and through. There are 2 seasons - the first season is only 7 episodes.

Another show you may be interested in is The OC. If you like OTH, you will love The OC. It has a lot of the same great drama, beautiful characters, and funny quips that you would expect from a show like this. There are 4 seasons, but only the first 3 have the full cast.

The only show that I believe rivals LOST in quality from the past 10 years is The Sopranos. This show really has everything, and is just a superb series. There are like 8 or 9 seasons, and the finale is one of the best episodes of television I have ever seen.

Also, I know you mentioned you want a continuous plot, but I would seriously recommend 30 Rock. This show is smart and hilarious, and the characters could all have their own show. Great stuff.

Hope this helped!

How I Met Your Mother, Big Bang Theory, Chuck, Psych, NCIS, Numbers.

For old shows, get the DVDs of The Wire and The Shield, two great shows.

I love Breaking Bad, I highly suggest it. It has a great story. I am currently watching the second season. 😀

One of my favorites... The Prisoner. Kind of like Lost with spies, but about 40 years earlier.

True Blood. Cool, weird, not for children.

Twin Peaks is awesome. I wouldn't say it's the best show on TV or anything, but I really enjoyed it. I didn't watch the Twin Peaks movie, but maybe now is a good time.

Breaking Bad (coming to end of second series)

Breaking Bad is an awesome show. I watched the first season as it was airing. I didn't realize that the second season had started yet... I guess I better catch up!

-Chuck
-Stargate SG-1 (although this is not entirely a continuous themed show, the show tends to lean towards it as the seasons progress)
-Alias

Yeah I don't think it's the best show on TV either, but I have heard rumblings.

I wonder what other shows would be in contention for that title?

Really Good Scripted Shows:
Given that Dexter has already been mentioned.
-Californication (David Ducovny [Fox Moulder] as a shiftless, alchoholic, pick-up artist is worth a look)
-Entourage (fictional life of a Movie Star and his entourage, it's seems like it would be cheesy but it is really interesting)
-The Tudors (this show is absolutely awesome, watch the first two seasons so you don't get lost, be prepared for a lot of T&A since it is Showtime)
-True Blood (Vampires, Blood, Guts, T&A on HBO how can you go wrong?)

Decent Scripted Shows:

-Dollhouse
-Terminator: The Sara Connor Chronicles (this show is okay mainly if nothing is on Discovery or The History Channel)

For older recent shows

-ROME (2nd Best Show Ever [Star Trek TNG was the Best Ever])
-Soprano's
-Six Feet Under
-Deadwood
-Band of Brothers (yea this is getting fairly old now)

As you can tell I pretty much just like scripted television from HBO and Showtime. Otherwise I watch movies or documentaries.
