In November I had to purchase a computer for work and seeing as how it would be forced to run WinDoze 98% of the time I went with the low end Mini with 80g HD, Combo Drive ect.

Well fast forward and now I have a work machine provided and I can now bring the Mini home, which will replace my aging 17" G5 iMac.

The iMac serves as the source of all my music, movies and pictures and streams to 2 Apple TV units. I do some Photoshop work, but that is a very small percentage of what its used for.

So the question is, should I move the old Mini home, connect my 1Tb external HD and roll with it, or sell the Mini and buy the new one?

The idea of N wireless is my main motivation at this point so I can get my entire network up to one speed.

Any thoughts?

The new one is better on several levels. CPU (from yours), DDR3-1066 RAM with 4GB ceiling, 9400m graphics, FW800. If you can wait for a refurb to show up on the low-end, I would snap that up. Otherwise get a low-end mini and sell your current one.

Having said that, I have had no problems with my 1.66GHz CD mini serving as a media center and backup hub (although its showing its age now).

BTW, you can upgrade the Wifi card to n if you want to.

Now there is something I would look into. Off to Google I go. If anyone has a link that will save me some time I would be greatful

I just upgraded from a 1.83Ghz Mac Mini (Core Duo) to a new Mini. Honesty just for web browsing I don't see any difference. Not that I mind, love the mini.
