As both the HDD and SuperDrive in the mini are SATA, is it possible to temporarily plug my old drive in the SuperDrive cable to expedite data transfer? I don't particularly want to shell out for a caddy just for this purpose. Or is there a special cable i can buy which is cheaped just for this?

not always people can afford to buy everything that we need.. specially if we need it for 1 time.. what i've done in some hard times and i would suggest to do.. go to best buy or walmart and buy an external harddrive.. make sure is firewire 800 do a back up and then restore with your new hdd..

and return it.. it would be the easiest thing.. it should copy and restore everything in about 30 to 60 mins, depending on how much stuff you got.. it's pretty fast thou.. it takes me about 10 minutes to back up about 80 gb
