Western Digital Elements 1TB USB 2.0 External Hard Drive or LaCie 1TB 7200RPM USB2 8

I have a Western Digital My Book Essential 500GB USB 2.0 (WD5000C032 is the model number if you are interested) and it has worked perfectly for about 3 years now. I use it regularly for backups and so far no problems. It is really quiet, wakes up from sleep really quick, and it has been reliable (no problems yet). However, I don't have any experience with LaCie and I don't have the exact Western Digital Drive either.

I have both and I've liked them both (yeah, no help at all here). I got the lacie as a refurb and it's been a champ (not everyone does refurbs as well as apple). Historically, I'd lean toward the WD because I can't recall a WD product ever failing on me.
