iPhone usb acessories.. [OS 3.0]

people who are downloading insanely betas from developer connection!
can you tell me if apple would allow for example a keyboard to be connected through usb for all apps or the acessory api would be app centric?!
this info should be available on the iphone 3 sdk documentation by now =)

im not sure but i would think it would be app centric because doing what you describe would be background processing

All accessories using 3.0 need to go through the "Made For iPod" program. And according to the information, each accessory needs its own app.

Do you mean the 30 pin connector? I haven't seen a USB 1/2/miniUSB connection on the iPhone recently.
Some of the info seems to be stashed in the mac for iPod and works with iPhone group...

Theoretically, many different developers could adopt the technology for the same piece of hardware, so it could be used by various apps.

i think the op means native apps as well (think mail texting safari and notes) that would be awesome though
