I have a 2008 8 core mac pro. I want to get 2 1TB internal drives. I saw this on the apple website, but i don't know if i should buy it because it says it requires a 2009 mac pro. Will it work with my2008?

It will work but why buy it from :apple: Check around, OWC, Newegg etc. and you will get it cheaper.

Yes. Any SATA drive will work. Be that a 1.5TB drive, a 10,000rpm drive, a 5400rpm notebook 2.5" drive with a 3.5" drive bay adapter, a 4200rpm 1.8" mini drive with a suitable adapter or any SATA SSD drives.
If you were planning on spending $600 on two 1TB drives from Apple then just go ahead and buy either two 2TB drives for $500 a pair (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136344&Tpk=2TB) or four 1.5TB drives for $520 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148337).
Or of course, for the best combo of speed and storage, you could get an Intel X25-M 80GB SSD drive for $315 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820167005) (basically the fastest drive 'reasonable' money can buy) as a boot drive and have money left over for two 1TB drives listed above for $260 leaving $25 to buy a 2.5" to 3.5" converter for the SSD.

I need 1tb, i want to use one as a scratch disk and one for imovie, because for some reason imovie crashes when I have any of my external HD's plugged in. Go figure.
