I've been a huge fan of them lately. Haven't seen any threads about them, so I made this one. Any other fans out there?

HUGE bump!

Incredibly awesome band. Seen them twice now (which is a feat, given their disregard for AZ!), and they've been awesome both times. Through two albums and an EP, there's only one song of theirs I truly dislike, which I think really says something about a band :p

Hell, even my parents like them.

I highly recommend them to anyone interested!

(Not saying one should base musical preferences on reviews, but the reviews for their latest album are hard to ignore!)

And a full live set if anyone is especially interested!

I was just about to start a search for anyone who has started a thread like this and if not I was going to make one.

I've been a huge fan of the gaslight anthem since their first album Sink or Swim came out. I've seen 'em 3 times, first was when they opened for the Bouncing Souls and Tim Barry in Pittsburgh then they played a make up show in Covington, KY just outside of Cincinatti and that was a great show. Then most recently again in Pittsburgh on their '59 sound tour. They're an incredible band and their songs are intelligently written, citing influences and referencing their musical and literary favorites.

If you're not aware, Brian Fallon, the front man, has his own project going on where he plays folk, gospel, acoustic, indie music. AND best part about that is...it's all made on a mac, haha. He is indeed a Mac user!

Thanks for the bump guys.
They are truly an incredible band. I have trouble finding any bands better than them. With them, however, would be bands such as Alkaline Trio, and The Bouncing Souls.
What I do really love about The Gaslight Anthem though, are the amazing California references. I live in California, in the Bay Area, and was born here. However, I still find myself quite often having romantic "dreams" of California.
And now I drive the 101 on the California night.
And I'm amazed at all the stars beneath that old Hollywood sign.
And they waltz, up a boulevard, to a place we never kept.
And I'm not sure if we belong here, if I ever really left, or If I can go home.
But you know the summer always brought it.
That wild and reckless breeze.
And in the backseat, we're just trying to find some room for our knees.
And in the backseat, we're just trying to find some room to breathe.

And in the wild desert sun, we drove straight on through the night.
We rode a fever out of Boston.
Dreamed of California nights.
Come July, we'll ride the Ferris Wheel.
Go round and round and round.
And If you never let me go, well I will never let you down.

So beautiful.
Unfortunately, I haven't been able to see these guys live yet. I think I will be able to make Warped Tour though. :D
Anywho, I do encourage you guys to check them out.

They're coming through San Francisco on 9/20 on their next tour. I think that's the closest to Palo Alto they're coming.

Of course, they've decided to (again) skip over AZ on this tour :p

Funny you mention Alkaline Trio. I actually drove to Hollywood with a friend in December to see Rock To Roll '08, which was Alkaline Trio, Gaslight Anthem, and Broadway Calls. Awesome show :D

Can't wait for gaslight's next tour with the Loved Ones and Murder by Death. I just wish Frank Turner was on all the dates as well.

Actually, with Warped Tour coming up, they're coming to SF, and Shoreline Amphitheater, which is around 15 minutes away from Palo Alto. I'll see the Warped Tour there, so it should be a blast.
I'm not sure, but does Warped go to Arizona?
If they did, there's a chance of you seeing them there. :)

I went to Warped on Tuesday. Seems a lot of the good bands only play short stints, though. This year was leaps and bounds better than the last 2 years, though.
