Out of curiosity ... who else here is in the service or retired?
Me, I'm Army at Fort Hood.

Maybe the "Did an enlistment or two, but didn't retire," should be changed to something inclusive of commissioned folk?

Enlistment applies to both in this sense.

I am in the Air Force. I will hit my 18 year mark in Aug. Its pretty good gig, cant complain.
I am stationed at McChord AFB in Wash.....across the street from Ft. Lewis. It's gearing up to be a superbase called Lewis/McChord.
I am currently deployed to Kuwait. Ali Al Salem, most of you Army guys know it I'm sure. I work the C-17's.

I almost went in after I didn't get accepted to Princeton but didn't do it because I got a full ride to another university.

Wow- for some reason I thought we had more service members here. Maybe they haven't shown up yet.

Six years Navy. Yeah BABY! Best six years of my life even though you couldn't convince me of that while I was "serving." Enlisted while Gerald Ford was president.
I too am surprised there aren't more active duty members here.

I've been one of the few and the proud for 16 years so far, and I'm still having a great time.

Worked with (and in some cases against) those in the services but have never been part of a national force.

Meh, ROTC scholarships are kind of a scam at the need blind universities anyway. The top schools meet 100% of financial need after all scholarships so if you're a cadet and Uncle Sam isn't paying for anything, your out of pocket cost is the same. The advantage to being contracted but not on scholarship is that if you choose to back out, walk away and/or otherwise resign before your financial commitment was met, you didn't owe the US gov't anything.
Of course, the game was different in the late 90s and 2000-2001 pre-9/11.
