Hello,

I've got a previous gen mini (out if warranty, too). I am using smcFanControl and it tells me that my mini's fans stay at around 1800 RPM, no matter what. More than a few times, the temperature has gotten to 160 F, and the fans stayed at ~1800 RPM.

Is this a known issue? Would it warrant a replacement?

Thanks for your help!

Have you changed its speed from SmcFanControl's preferences? Also make sure if you create a new setting that you also choose that setting to be as your default

You can try using Fan Control (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/23137) instead of SMC Fan Control. It adjusts fan speed based on temperature rather than just letting you set a minimum.

Actually, I keep it at the factory minimum, 1500 RPM most of the time.

Must be spinning fast! Maybe its not SMC fan control, try reinstalling SMC then try.

It isn't smcFanControl. The air is much faster at 4000 RPM than 1500 RPM. You can tell the difference by putting your hand over the fan opening.
