OS X 10.5.6 at the moment. I get the following error if I try to update using software update:

I can update other software, like iTunes, fine.

Softwar Update says the update is 286MB in size, I can only find the 442MB delta update and the 729MB combo update on the internet.

Software Update gets a delta tailored to your machine. Anyone of the three options will work, though some people prefer to use the combo. I usually let Software Update do its thing, then keep a combo updater "just in case".

Looks like I'm going to have to do the 442MB update.

I was just hesitant, since in Australia, our ISPs have ridiculous bandwidth quotas.

Thanks for your advice.
