I bought an Apple Video Adapter (Mini VGA to Video out) to connect my daughters G4 ibook to her TV.

I have tried connecting the ibook to the TV using a phono Video lead to the phono video input on the TV and also using a phono to Scart lead to the TV but both only produce Black and White pictures on the TV. I have tried 2 different TVs and still just get B&W.

I checked the ibook Help and it suggests that I should go to Display Peferences/Options and change the settings. I can’t find an Options item in Display Preferences. I assume there is something I need to adjust in the NTSC/PAL preferences.

There is no problem with the sound. Just the picture.

Can anybody provide simple step by step instructions to set the VGA output to colour for a PAL TV.

Thanks

I would have though the video out default is NTSC. NTSC would come out in B/W on a PAL TV, though most TV that have been made in the last few years can accept PAL & NTSC through the SCART Socket. I don't have a new ibook so can't help in how to switch it to PAL

the options tab under display wd come up only when u r connected to a display..
when u r connected to the tv, under color tab, of display, it says NTSC/PAL, but theres not one that you can select, but you may wanna play with other settings, so connect to tv, and then goto systempref-display

hope it helps..

Got it working

It just seems to be temperamental.

I plugged it in and out a few times and eventually on opening System Preferences/Display I got the NTSC/PAL profile set it to PAL and hey presto we have colour on the TV.

I adjusted a few of the colour settings and created a calibrated PAL profile.

It seems to work OK now.

Thanks for your suggestions
