Hi,
I'm trying to create an application in which I want to communicate with another bluetooth device for data. As I know using GameToolKit framework we can communicate with another iPhone or iPod device, but in my application I want to get data from different bluetooth device.
Is it possible in iphone SDK? If yes, can somebody help me out?
Thanks.

There is no way at all in the 2.x SDK. We can't talk about the 3.x SDK (NDAs), but Apple have announced that it supports building applications that talk to third part devices. My understanding is that you need to talk to Apple directly about this as they need to "bless" the device or allow it in some way.

I think talking to devices is only possible when they are connected via cable. as far as I know, the iphone has no bluetooth protocol except for bluetooth headsets.

You need to look into the "Made for Apple" or "Made for iPod" hardware developer program. Might cost big bucks to even look at the NDA.

I could able to communicate with only other iphone or ipod devices in SDK 3.x. But I could not found any thing helpful for getting data from other third party bluetooth device.

like I said, I think it's not possible. the connection to other iphones is, as far as I know, not established through bluetooth but rather through wifi.
in any case, I think the iphone doesn't have the necessary protocols to talk to other bluetooth devices.

Wrong.
If you pay to join the iPhone developer program and also Apple's Made for iPod hardware manufacturing program, you will find out differently.

If this is true, I wonder why noone has been able to get two iphones to exchange data until now (not officially, but as a jailbreak app).
