Hi, I am thinking of building my own FW 800 drives for pro audio (1 for boot disk, the other for audio and video files).

I am trying to decide between the Western Digital Caviar, IBM Hitachi deskstar, and Seagate Barracuda IDE with 8 MB buffer. Any thoughts or experience (reliability, speed and quiet operation are most important).

Also, I was looking at the OWC FW800 enclosures. Any thoughts or recommendations? Heat dissipation and reliabiliy and quiet are most important factors.

Thanks everyone!!!

p.s.i know I said in other forums I wouldn't build my own FW drives, but it's just so cheap!
