Ram Upgrade?

I just recently bought the lowest aluminum unibody macbook (2.0 ghz, 2 gig ram). And I just wanted to know if this is what type of ram I should get http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=MacBook%202.0GHz%20Intel%20Core%202%20Duo%20%2813-inch%29%20MB881LL/A&pl=Apple&cat=RAM

My plan was to get the 4 gig kit - 2x 2 gig pieces (obviously). I know my way around computers pretty easily and know how to handle one, should I install my own ram or can I take it to the apple store to be safe? Also if I get that ram what should I do with my 2x 1 gig pieces that are already in it?

Old RAM: sell it or keep in case of having to send your MB in, to replace the newer sticks with the old ones. Sometimes user installed components get lost during repair.

Thank you, but it says the Macbook 2.4 ghz? Does that matter? Because I have the 2.0 GHZ.

I gave links to an install video and a package of RAM from OWC. I bought this package and used the video to install and it was very easy. I would just install the RAM yourself and not spend the money on a professional install because then you don't have to deal with the time spent waiting for them to install it and you can just have an upgraded computer in 10 minutes at your house.

You could buy the RAM from crucial or OWC, they are both reputable companies. I would just go for the cheapest which seems to be Crucial right now looking at the set you were looking at. I would still use the install video for instructions on installing, it is very helpful to see something done rather than read it in your manual that came with the computer.

After I took my RAM out i just put them in the cases that the new RAM came in from OWC and put them in the macbook box. I kept it because i thought it was awesome, but now I am storing extra computer parts in there. I would keep the RAM that was in the macbook, just in case your 4GB set fails and you need a quick fix before you can get a replacement.
