iPod touch why doesnt free wifi in europe work on itouch

i am in europe with my itouch. the hotel has free wifi. i connect on Settings to the wifi, but when i go to mail or safari, it cant connect.

any suggestions?

You're sure you're connecting to the hotel's system? There are loads of those 'Free Public Wifi' things out there that aren't real wifi.

I assume the hotel does not have any suggestions of their own?

When you open up safari, does it go to the hotel's site to login to the network?

sometimes the hotels tell you to first go to "http://....." to accept their TOS before you can surf. look for a card or instructions or call the desk

reset netwoek settings should do the trick.

You usually have to have the Wifi's login details which are supplied by the Hotel or owner of the system. Once you enter these the touch should remember it and connect automatically when you are in range of the router. Some hotel wifi systems are often limited to small areas such as a reception area or lounge.
