My wife's aluminium MacBook bought six months ago has run cool until the last few days. Now when she leaves the machine alone and the screen saver comes on, the fan cranks up to 3800-4800 rpm. The screen saver hasn't changed, nor has anything else with the exception of the recent software updates. Does anyone know if the new Safari update (or the iLife updates) could cause this type of problem?

Also look for hanging processes in the Activity Monitor...print spools are a common culprit.

macbook aluminum over heating with a CPU of 80-90 celsius!

Ever since i updated to (Mac OS X 10.5.7) i have had really bad problems with overheating at 80 sometimes 90 celsius with the CPU! my fan responds to this close to boiling temperature at only 3000 rpm! im worried this will damage my processor or even the whole mac! why is this? what should i do? and is it mac OX X 10.5.7 that is the problem? it never did this before  ???

thanks
