I agree, ********* keynote ever. Way to disappoint, Apple (well, more like frickin' AT&T for their horrible terms of service *cough cough* tethering).

The whole media was waiting for a front-facing camera, an appearance by Steve Jobs, but alas, no.

Not to say I'm not a hypocrite and getting the new iPhone :p

Patiently waiting for Podcast.

Very solid announcements, glad to see iPhone 3.0 coming out next week and not next month. Snow Leopard looks a lot more interesting than I'd previously thought and the updates to the laptops (especially the monster price drops here in Aus) are stellar.

The updates to Exposé in Snow Leopard (click on the dock icon and hold) as well as the 512x512 pixels are certainly turning it into something you could easily port to a large touch-screen device...

Something big is in the wind.

It's typical practice for all carriers that you don't get a subsized new phone until 18 months after your contract began. Don't believe me? You can go read the fine print for every other carrier in the US. Oligopolies are fun, aren't they?

Seriously, there were some really good upgrades + price cuts. I give this keynote A. It shows Apple flexibility that we haven't seen... SD card slot, MacBook (Pro) firewire, and pricing... Great news all around. Mini-tower before September maybe? (probably not)
Snow Leopard's pricing is irresistible, smaller footprint is genius.
While I love reading rumors, it is great to be surprised, I guess Steve Jobs was the one leaking information before previous keynotes. :)

Try this.

Go to System Preferences > Quicktime > Advanced > MIME Settings...

Select "Custom..." in the transport menu. Switch the transport protocol from UDP to HTTP. (No idea why Apple buried this options so far down where nobody can find it.)

And as a network admin, I'll assume you won't need an explanation as to why that works. :D

AT&T is holding Apple back. Apple has boosted AT&T's business and AT&T shows their gratitude by screwing their customers. I had T-mobile before iPhone. When the iPhone came out, I switched carriers. I love my iPhone but AT&T absolutely sucks. They have more dropped calls than any other carrier, less bars in more areas than any other carrier. They say that they will not support tethering - but just for the iPhone. They add additional fees for iPhones and I'll bet they cap data limits just to squeeze more money out of iPhone users.

Wake up Apple. Stop exclusivity with the world's worst network - AT&T. More carrier choices will allow more sales and a better product not constrained by AT&T. he exclusivity may have been beneficial when the iPhone first was introduced, but those days are over.

I upgraded to the 3G last year. Now AT&T wants an additional $100 for me to upgrade to 3GS. I may as well wait another 6 months. There is very little 3GS will do for me that my 3G can't do now.

The 3GS looks like a very nice upgrade. AT&T is the kill joy.

Um, it is subsidised.

If you're paying off your 3G contract early, then don't be surprised if they want you to pay more to cover the subsidisation cost of the previous phone that you haven't paid off yet.

No, but he took a pretty good jab at ATT for uploading videos via mms.

"If your carrier supports it."

The audience got a good kick out of it. Forstall also got the audience laughing when all of the carriers from 70+ countries support MMS, except ATT wasn't on the screen. ATT cannot be happy. They are going to get some bad PR from this.

HOLLY CRP... That worked for me too. I wouldn't mind you (or someone else) explaining switching to HTTP made it work.

There are a lot of possible reasons, but the most typical is that you're behind some restrictive firewall settings that are blocking UDP traffic on port 554. Switching Quicktime's transport protocol over to HTTP puts you on port 80 which is the same port you receive Web pages over and that's not usually blocked.

Nope, I think it's about damned time. They're the most common format of media card used today and the ability to just plug the card in from your still or video camera and not have to worry about draining the camera's battery, using a precious, precious USB port or losing the cable from your camera is awesome.

They're fantastic upgrades.

My guess is that we are still an upgrade or two away from MBPs having a SIM slot. Maybe they can do something tricky with the SD slot to talk to built in phone hardware next rev. Also, I still want to see the trackpad as an ipodtouch screen.

SD cards have become the norm for consumer and professional cameras. Just like firewire 400 lost out to usb2 (in consumer areas), Apple will follow the direction of their consumers, while also steering the industry in new technologies (wireless-n). They must feel that more consumers would use an SD slot than, say an express slot (1% of users used it was what Phil said in the keynote).

Agreed. I am a 1st Gen. iPhone user. Just bought my new 32G iPhone 3G S. All I really wanted from my phone was Copy/Paste/Video and more importantly... speed. (1st Gen is slooooowww... compared to the 2nd gen iPod Touch)

I own 2 macbooks and a 3 iMacs (black 2.0, 1 work, 1 home... ) I will be purchasing a 15" macbook pro for me, and a 13" for my son. Great updates. SL is looking to be a must have update.

On the bad side:

I HATE defending AT&T when they screw me on MMS!! (Tethering is very nice, but I won't use it that much).

I hate to say this, because I don't mind AT&T's service (they've really improved in my area), but this is BS!! <sigh> it's already been said enough today.. :)

I honestly see every other carrier doing the same thing if they were in AT&T's position. That doesn't mean I find it excusable. I understand the phone is subsidized but they really need to explain why the range for day one iPhone 3G owners being able to buy the 3GS at subsidized cost ranges from at launch to March. I mean, seriously guys. Hopefully the tethering cost is not the high end price that is being quoted everywhere either.

Still, we're stuck with AT&T until 4G which is a few years out. Apple isn't going to make a CDMA phone when that standard is dead.

The iPhone 3G was subsidized. If you're signing a brand new contract, you get the iPhone 3GS for the same subsidized price. But why on earth would you expect to be allowed to sign a two year contract, pay a subsidized price, and then pay a subsidized price again a year later? Didn't you read your contract before you signed it?

Apple adopted the draft wireless-n standard before most companies, as well as with their router. They even built it into Macbooks without anyone really knowing, and enabling it when it was ready.

So now that the iphone supports third party hardware, can somebody just make a front facing camera that plugs into the dock connector? Could an app be written that would work with it to link with iChat?

I'm quoting this again since people have skipped over it. Here is your solution guys.

Nothing really earth shattering....for me, the best of the lot is the Snow Leopard OS....the Macbook refresh gave in to the clamor of the folks who needs firewire...no sweat off MY back since I don't use it at all. the SD slot you can certianly find 3rd party USB port plugs for that...for the Iphone...just improvements also.

Now if there was a tablet...THAT would be earth shattering...

Always so much negativity after a keynote...

My thoughts: one of the best keynotes we've had in a while.

Laptops: great new pricepoints, better batteries. Who can complain? The laptops didn't even need upgrading.

SL: $30? Who ever thought this would happen. It looks fantastic. September is kinda annoying, though.

iPhone: 3.0 coming next week. Perfect! Can't wait. 3GS - not worthy of an upgrade from 3G (Even though I would love to -- I love speed!). But the 3Gs is an excellent choice for a new iPhone buyer.

Find my iPhone thru MobileMe is an incredible feature, too.

Overall, great news, nothing disappointing, except I want a 3GS, but don't want to pay for it :P

Re: The Keynote

There should be a split-screen with one camera aimed at the stage and the other camera aimed on the crowd to see the reactions.

That would never happen for negative reactions. Apple actually edits out bad portions of the Keynote when something minor goes wrong. I was at WWDC last year and the iPhone 3G commercial played incorrectly with bad audio and in the webcast, it was fine.

SD cards have become the norm for consumer and professional cameras. Just like firewire 400 lost out to usb2 (in consumer areas), Apple will follow the direction of their consumers, while also steering the industry in new technologies (wireless-n). They must feel that more consumers would use an SD slot than, say an express slot (1% of users used it was what Phil said in the keynote).
i agree, but it seems odd to have it now....i always connected my camera via usb so i never really had the need for a card reader save for putting pics of my kiddo on it to put the card in a digital frame......it just seemed odd. I'm certainly not complaining, but the trend for Apple isn't media......i'm betting in the next 5 years the optical drive will be gone......but what do i know

Apple needs to change their name to Apple iPhone – because that’s all we hear anymore. Granted the 13” MacBook got a little bump and of course we heard more promises about Snow Leopard, but what was the main focus? What seems to always be the main focus? The iPhone blah blah blah.
I’m so sick of the iPhone.
No, I’m not saying that other cell phones are better – truthfully, I really don’t care. I don’t own an iPhone and I don’t want one. I hate cell phones in general. AND I really wouldn’t care so much about the iPhone if Apple could focus on more than one or two projects at a time!
They need to come out with Snow Leopard already. And they really need to come out with a tablet/netbook thing – their customers have been asking for this for YEARS now and it’s beginning to piss me off that they keep ignoring us. I hope another company like Dell or Lenovo beats them to market with such a device.

This is the core of the issue. It's a good upgrade but not worth so much to all people. I'd like to be able to upgrade but can't until March. To me the upgrade would be worth $200 but not $400. So I'll just wait for the next phone if it comes to that. I'll live.

Overall with the iPhone 3G now starting at $99 and Snow Leopard $29 as well as the Macbook Pro price cuts it is amazing that people are still talking about the "Apple Tax" (CNet is calling the $200 price difference for 3G owners to upgrade to the 3G[s] an "Apple Tax" even though it is a product of the carriers, not Apple).

Beforehand I expected quite a lot from the keynote.. but it sure was right disappointing.

Wanted to upgrade my Macbook Pro: but still no blu-ray drive? $1000+ for 4GB of Ram? Internal battery? Quite disappointing. Wanted to upgrade badly... but somehow it looks like I will have to search for an alternative.

The iPhone's a joke too... I thought they would actually bring something, that would/could be much more competitive.

From the keynote: actually quite boring. Its not Apple's style that demo's fail to work, and that more than once. Also: No goodie at all.. I think they should have atleast aimed to release some software update for the keynote.. either the iPhone OS 3.0 or Snow Leopard.

What's been interesting is tracking blogger sentiment on the WWDC keynote, which has definitely been mixed, underscoring a core part of my analysis on the event; namely that Apple has so totally treated us to wizardry and wow over the years that when they merely execute, it's a disappointment (to some), something that I blogged about in:

Wow! that worked like a charm! Started very quickly and the quality is better too.!! Thanks!!! :)

PS: Anyone know what is the best way to save it so I can watch it with my wife on my Apple TV on my big screen?

Ages ago there were some posts where people would somehow find the links to the original files on Apple's servers. I haven't seen that in a while.

The alternative is to do a screen capture. You play the movie on your computer and use something like SnapZ Pro to record that part of the screen and the sound. Works OK but it's tedious. The file size is large. Looks a little more compressed since it has been compressed twice.

Since this is more than two hours it would probably be smart to record the screen in three or four sections to keep the individual file sizes down.

I disagree. They spent a lot of time on the Mac. You also have to remember that they are trying to build up a mobile platform that is only 3 years old and an app store that is one year old. The only thing I was dissapointed was in no Marble and no matte iPhone with front facing camera.

I think that the Mac part of the keynote was the most interesting part. Well that and Apple execs making jokes at the expense of AT&T. :D

Jun 9, 2009, 05:58 AM
so what do you think now for people who recenly got macbook pros 2 weeks ago. what do we doBuy something for the ExpressCard slot. ;)

It's typical practice for all carriers that you don't get a subsized new phone until 18 months after your contract began. Don't believe me? You can go read the fine print for every other carrier in the US. Oligopolies are fun, aren't they?If you purchase something on credit, you have to pay all installments. It's a simple as that. Calling it a "subsidy" and hiding the installments in the service plan does not change that basic financial truth.

Based on the prices you have to pay in countries where it is available without a 24 month plan, you can estimate the actual price of the iPhone at around 700 to 800 USD. The fraction of the data plan that pays for the phone is about 20 to 25 USD/month.

I really wonder now about the low end MB - a single model is pretty unusual. I suspect a 10" brother sometime this year.I do suspect a whole-new line of Atom-based MacBooks, MacMinis and Apple TVs to be released along with Snow Leopard

Nope, I think it's about damned time. They're the most common format of media card used today and the ability to just plug the card in from your still or video camera and not have to worry about draining the camera's battery, using a precious, precious USB port or losing the cable from your camera is awesome.Well, a USB port is still more versatile than an SD card reader. So it might have been better to use the same space for an additional USB port.

Was anyone else disappointed by the speech itself? I mean a lot of it was about Snow leopard and Iphone os3 which have already been covered before. Anyone else notice the speakers had some of the same speech mannerisms as Steve? Guess they have the same coaches.Maybe they even work for the same company… wait!

they were laughing at how lame ATT is.

earlier, they said MMS wouldn't be on ATT till late summer and you could hear the crowd moan and groan in disappointment.

then, a few minutes later the topic of tethering came up and, again, they announced that ATT was participating yet.

after Apple announced that, they QUICKLY moved on to safari....and the crowd was still sitting in silence and in shock that ATT was screwing us US customers....and then they started to moan/groan/boo when they realized all of this and when apple quickly tried to changed the topic.

Yeah the constant chatter about Iphones and their bloody Apps does wear a bit thin especially when you have no intention of buying an Iphone/Touch and being shafted by a mobile contract.

I dont like the way Schiller kept stating that the price on the new macbook pro's have dropped when compared to the previous versions....So it should, unless there has been a radical change from the previous versions.

The hardware, namely processor speed is very old hat by the time a refresh comes and the consumers have been getting shafted for under a year buying macbooks with processors that other manufacturers would've dropped months ago, and dont get me started on the Mac Mini.

I'm not sold on Snow Leopard as yet until I see the performance figures so I'll hang fire till then.

Their design of their hardware is pretty unified now across the board (except for the Mac Pro's/Mac Mini's that is), so I would expect the next announcements down the line to be radically redesigned Mac Pro's, Mac Mini's and perhaps the fabled Tablet, all announced by the Messiah, cough.. I mean Steve. Good things are just round the corner.....I hope!

So many different threads to post I'll go with the most recent. Take AT&T out of the picture for a minute, and you have a really nice iPhone upgrade. In my opinion, there were a few main missing features, all of which have been fixed:

1.) MMS
2.) Voice Dial
3.) Nike+ Sensor

I can now (finally) make the switch from Verizon. While I might pay an extra 10-20 a month, it's well worth it for making my life easier (and safer).

I really enjoyed watching this keynote. It was probably Apple's most substantial keynote for some time, perhaps since Macworld 2004. At over 2 hours, it was also Apple's longest keynote since WWDC 2003, which ran for about 2:10:00.

The keynote was at least 20x better than Macworld this year. Phil had to somehow draw out just 3 product announcements to 1.5 hours. At least there was substance to this keynote. Anyone thinking that this keynote was terrible would even admit it was better. What makes a good keynote is the the amount of content and the way it's presented.

This is the worst keynote of all time. iPhone 3GS upgrade for 400/500 dollars on top of the monthly plan that charges as though its subsidized? AT&T never ceases to amaze me.

What will never cease to amaze me is people like you who sign a two year contract to get a subsidized phone and that can't believe that they must honor their contract.

The S upgrade, I believe, is a partial upgrade..
It seems too minor in my opinion.
I think again they're holding back the bigger upgrades until next year when the tech is ready.... or perhaps not to distract the market from near term future products........MacBook Touch perhaps?

Not sure what all the haters are talking about. First, This is WWDC. Second they updated their ENTIRE laptop line AND dropped the price. Education Discount/Free iPod with these babies and it's hard for me to resist an upgrade.

iPhone doesn't have a front facing camera. Kinda disappointing, but I wouldn't put it past Apple to be waiting out this horrible AT&T deal to bring out something special when they stop exclusivity. Sucks for those of us buying the 3GS as we will probably miss next years upgrade (i'm an original iPhone owner - just freaking dropped mine after 2 years of handling it nice).

Why did people laugh when Scott Forstall said Safari? Also, iPhone 2.0 always had Korean language support and I think even 1.0 also. Why did they say it was a new feature?

They added the North Korean version....:D

My biggest complaint about the keynote was when they said that most people where choosing laptops over desktops.

THAT IS BECAUSE APPLE DOES NOT OFFER A TRADITIONAL CONSUMER DESKTOP LINE!!!!

If Apple offered a line of systems using the i7 quad core "desktop" cpus in systems in the $1200-1800 range, and E7xxx, E8xxx and Q8xxx CPUs in systems in the $600-$1200 range they would certainly close the gap.

But of course Apple isn't interested in the gap. They are happy selling more laptops than desktops. When their "desktop" systems are roughly the same price for the same performance as laptops (because they are using laptop parts), why not buy laptops....

This is the worst keynote of all time. iPhone 3GS upgrade for 400/500 dollars on top of the monthly plan that charges as though its subsidized? AT&T never ceases to amaze me.How many subsidized phones do you think you're worth? You got the 3G at $199, be happy with your phone.

I bought the original 1st generation phone for my wife and I at $499 each (16GB models at least) -- I figure it's OUR turn to get a nice chunk in return, considering I invested about $1150 with tax for ours.

The Keynote was NOT "the wort of all time". It was a solid WWDC. This is for the developers not the public, though there's so many people who are watching Apple, it's just free publicity. Great info about iPhone OS and Snow Leopard OS; Amazing $29 price for Leopard users; really nice updates on laptops with excellent price reductions; Macbook brought into the Pro fold; iPhone 3.0 coming soon and a new iPhone with great new abilities -- all you took away from it was the fact that you'll pay $200 more. Big deal. You'll still have your first 3G phone in your pocket… to either use as an amazing iPod or give to a relative or friend.

People: if you watch keynote, you'll get a lot more out of it then just from any blogger. The info about stuff about to arrive is amazing. Don't get hung up over a couple hundred bucks.

----

About AT&T: be as pissed as you want. Do you think Apple is happy with them? This is only good for us as Apple will be trying to get out from under the companies that won't do the things they need to do to keep this whole thing moving as it should: forward.

I loved the keynote, can't wait to get my new iPhone and mac os x.
But i don't like the new macbook pros.
I'm forced to buy a 17 inch macbook because of the new SD card slot.
I don't need an SD card slot, because i buy sony cameras (love all sony devices) and they use memory stick(which is faster then SD, or at least on my pc). And for that i need an expresscard slot.
No new laptop for me this year :(

All in all, a pretty solid PhilNote. Good updates to the laptop line-up coupled with good price drops was a great way to start the event.

SL looks like a solid upgrade, and at $29 I expect that the overwhelming majority of folks with Leopard running on an Intel will upgrade.

iPhone 3.0 will be a welcome update for most 3G owners who aren't inclined to purchase a 3GS model.

The 3GS is a decent update. Will be better if AT&T ever updates their network to 7.2 and permits tethering.

I really don't understand all the furor over AT&T not letting 3G owners upgrade for cheap. It's not a penalty people. You signed a contract, and the phone subsidy is recouped by AT&T over the 2-yr contract. Why should they sacrifice one iota of their subsidy so you can have a new phone? They are a business (just like Apple), and need to turn a profit for their shareholders.

1)The supposed macbook updates are small and not impressive.
2)The macbook pro 15" did not get discounted--They just took out the graphics card people!!!
3)The macbook pro 13" is the exact same thing with firewire!!
4)Everyone knew the macbook air was overpriced for the hardware. Also those poor bastards that bought one last month or even last week($700 decrease).
4)MacOSX was great and a good price, but is exactly what was expected. If they charged more than $30 bucks for an under the hood upgrade people would go nutz.
5)The iphone was a small update that kept with the exact profit margin I mentioned months ago.
6)They showed off iphone 3.0 months ago!! What was so great?

I hope that they have some more announcements planned for later this year that are worth waiting for.

Im watching the keynote now (only seen blogs so far), and apple has started bashing MS in the first 10 minutes...
It makes their entire ad campaign look very immature when they spend half the time complaining about the competition.

And they love how the Finder works.... Crap. I suppose we will never get great file management like every other OS has (explorer, nautilus, konqueror, dolphin, etc...). Finder is still stuck in the dark ages.

The new window management features look cool, but i dont think they can compare it to windows 7. Window management in 7 is just awesome.

Have you used windows 7? Snapping windows, aero peek, previews in the taskbar (which apple has graciously copied with Dock Expose), resize from every edge (fitz's law, which fanboys love to reference), etc...

Nautilus, Explorer, etc all have this neat thing call Cut/Paste, its pretty cool. They have breadcrumb trails that are useful and not just a visual aid like Finder, they remember view setting per-folder instead of changing everything to list/icon/whatever all at once, they allow you to force a refresh instead of hoping finder does it for you, they all have address bars...

Dock Expose is superior to Taskbar Previews IMO. If I want to be able to differentiate between windows in an app I want as large of a preview as possible. It's kind of hard to claim that Apple ripped this from Windows as Expose predates any similar feature in Vista.

Resize from every edge ...not a bad feature and certainly superior to the OS X method. I guess it would save me the hassle of dragging a window and then resizing.

There is a new feature in Snow Leopard that I think will work like the pinned windows. Evidently you can take a window and control drag it and squeeze any open windows against the side of the desktop. It appears trivial to open a couple of windows and then "squeeze" them together for a nice two window setup.

I'd say that I'm not a big manual file management fan. I use Hazel on my Mac which means that I can setup a myriad of rules based on content. My download folder is watched so that graphic files, movie files, compressed files and more are stored in their particular folder. I believe the function of a computer should be to help me manage data "without" mirroring a poor paradigm like folders which has carried over from the physical world.

Folders are just poor tags and rigig hierarchy. What I want is smart folders, global tagging (xattr- extended attributes) and actions based on tags. By 10.7 I expect to reduce my folder structure by an order of magnitude and rely on tagging to give me the appropriate views into the file structure that I need.

Apple is clearly ahead of Microsoft here and I hope they keep working hard towards this end.

This was great. Great MBP Line, great pricing, and $30 Snow Leopard! WTF! Awesome on the Mac side.

Disliked how uncooperative AT&T is, but loved the well-deserved subtle but pointed public jabs they felt confident to make there. Clever writing.

Guess there's really no point in a front-facing camera right now, when the sluggish lummox of a service provider would rather suck money for offering minimal service, than catch up to where China was 5 years ago * and support video chat anyway. Might as well focus on getting the rest of the device up to speed.

Perhaps at exclusive-contract-negotiation-time we'll see some more big-picture innovation.

Yup, I think you're right. I know I'm only one user, but I think this is fairly typical-- my video and still camera, and a very cool sound recorder that I use to practice music, all use SD. The LACK of an SD card slot, which (I hate to say, as I am very much an Apple fan) most of the "other" brands of notebooks have, plus of course the price, have kept me away from the MBPs, although they seem like sweet machines.

Well, my iBook (yes, iBook) is starting to seem awfully long in the tooth, and, at $ 1699 with the SD card slot for the 15" (this is a desktop replacement, the other option would be an iMac), I'm seriously thinking of treating myself...which I would not previously have considered. And I have a feeling I'm not the only one. I think this is a smart move for Apple.

Perhaps a miscommunication but I think we're on the same page. I meant that I was impressed by the work done on the laptop line and SL. Both offered solid upgrades and SL fits the bill of a revised, better version of Leopard. Also very impressed with their non-traditional pricing of SL and really thinking about the users/market.

The only negative for me was the excessive time devoted to the iPhone without many of the minor upgrades that I was hoping for. The current design works so I understand why they didn't want to change something that wasn't broken. I just could have done w/o the last half of the keynote. I watched the March OS 3.0 event so aside from the actual apps it was yaaaaaawn. Oh and also the ATT fail. I'm referring to non-support of MMS and tethering, two great new features. I'll stay out of the rest of the ATT upgrade debate b/c I broke my iPhone fair and square and should have to pay. Gogo washing machine!

I think there is. MMS, I think, requires slightly faster hardware, which exists in the iPhone 3G but not the original model.

However, there are some aspects of 3.0 that are being intentionally locked out on the original and 3G models, as an incentive to buy the iPhone 3G-S.

Try Subscribe the the whole Podcast first in iTune Store (It hasn't shown up there yet), then you should find it in the Podcast tab, or it should be automatic downloading

Thank you!

I can't believe I watched the whole thing. Jesus, my definition of "entertainment" has become fluid. I blame these Internets.

Observation #1: These things are much more fun without Jobs. Stay home and keep eating, Steveo.

Observation #2: 3GS, here I come.

I doubt that. I have a phone thats much older/slower than the original iphone and it can send mms.

Agree. I have an old Nokia 6021 that can do MMS. I think it's mainly a network/software thing.

You kick yourself for buying a Mac product right before WWDC. Learn to wait until you hear the announcements.

Exactly what I was thinking. I needed a new laptop for college and I said I would stick with my 10 pound 6 year old Dell till the new unibody MacBook Pro came out. And It was worth the 5 months more of XP and the incompatibility of old laptops.

Funny, I use the express slot all the time. For a SD card reader!

Exactly, I would rather have the express slot and buy adapters. That's just my opinion.

Did anyone else find the french guy annoying? They do use articles in french too...like he said there are refinements across board.....and when he did say "the" he said "ze" everytime...which I don't get as you would say "le" in French not zee...

I just felt like he should have been doing a cooking show, with huge bowls of chocolate fondue....that's usually when I am accustomed to such cloying accents, it somehow parallels the rich chocolate.

I actually thought he gave a great presentation with his assistant (can't remember name). Then again I am bias because I am fascinated by accents. But I laughed about your cooking show comment and would have to agree with you there.

Im watching the keynote now (only seen blogs so far), and apple has started bashing MS in the first 10 minutes....
It makes their entire ad campaign look very immature when they spend half the time complaining about the competition.

I know! I was a bit disapointed about that. I did like the Mac ads, but they became like a child screaming "I'm better than you Nana Na Na Na Na".

Safari 4.0 was downloaded on my PPC G4 PowerBook 15" last night.
Bad news though. Safari 4.0 is crashing every time it opens, immediately.
Nothing fancy installed. Just the basics.
I've reverted to the previous Safari which I had archived just incase.
This happens too often. Apple releases software that just isn't ready for prime time, it crashes and one must revert to backup. Doing their part to keep minions fully employed.

On my PC I can't watch the keynote in QuickTime - does not show video, just the Q. Had to watch it in VLC.

Who really knows? Apple does all sorts of odd stuff for seemingly no reason. Like the removal of Firewire on the short-lived uMB. Still cant figure that one out, even though they did fix it.

During keynote there's an interesting stutter when introducing the iPhone 3GS. The "S" stands for "Stev... Speed."

"Up to 3.06 GHz Dual Core"
(Isn't that Core 2 Duo on the slide, Buddy?)

How to download the HD qt (http://events.apple.com.edgesuite.net/0906paowdnv/event/index.html?internal=ijalrmacu) streaming?
I have already download podcast but I want to have on my hdd the Keynote in HD.
In this (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=415007) thread one guy (Imperiax) was able to post an mp4 link for MWSF08 Keynote, but IDK how to build another link like that for WWDC09 Keynote.

Someone? Thanks.

Yeah. I was already subscribed, but kept looking in the "page" in the store, getting frustrated that it wasn't listed... Then I went and looked in my podcasts tab and there it was, already downloaded.

I like Phil. I just wish he didn't always seem like he's so nervous he's about to wet his pants.

I found it amusing that the one fellow (dont know his name) was bashing Windows because no end-user should ever have to see a defrag window yet its perfectly acceptable for an end-user to have to repair permissions.
