Does anybody think it will be possible to activate some of the iPhone 3GS features through a jailbrake?

I know that the compass features will not be possible since that requires hardware. And I could be wrong, but I'm thinking that the Voice Control features might be more a software feature than a hardware feature. Also, anyone think it's possible to trick the camera app into using the Video features on 3.0 on an iPhone 3G?

I would love to get people's opinion on this, especially those who are coders and that might have a more technical view about this.

As you say, compass won't be possible.

The physical camera is completely different in the 3G S, so it is unlikely the software will work, unless Apple spent the time making it work on the 3G. Perhaps some clever person will find a way to make it work, but I doubt it.

As for the Voice Over, I wonder why they didn't add it to the 3G. Perhaps it is because it requires extra hardware power, or perhaps it is simply to differentiate further between models. In which case, it should run, if perhaps a little slowly.

I think the video camera would actually be possible, as the iPhone 3G camera is capable of video. I think there will be a software limiter preventing the previous iphones from using it.

When you turn on the camera in 3G iPhone you see a live preview before you hit the button to snap the picture. All you need now is the software to capture that live preview as a video. So for sure it will be cracked in near future...

I'm confused about the voice control though. Surely they'd give it to us in 3.0 if it would work else it doesn't make sense to me. There must be something hardware-ish about it. Can anyone speculate what that might be?

The more I think about it, the more I want that for my car.
