AppleTV and External Hard drive

I'm hoping some one can help me out with this. I attached a USB external hard drive to my AppleTV. I got it working with NitoTV and I can access the hard drive and everything works fine.

The problem comes in when I reboot the AppleTV. For some reason the USB hard drive causes it to keep rebooting. I just got it going yesterday and it has done this twice on its own.

Anyone know how to get the AppleTV to boot even if an external HD is plugged in?

It also appears that my AppleTV is locking up now. It ran for a good 10 hours and locked it. I restarted it and it locked up again quickly. The only changes I made was installing nitoTV and the USB drive.
