Impossible to restore Air from disk?

Because you can only plug the external dvd drive in DIRECTLY to the USB.
Hence there are no free ports to plug the hard drive...

Help! How do I restore from an HDD?

Create a bootable copy of Leopard on your portable HDD (I use an old brick iPod) using Disk Utility and your Leopard DVD.
