i've been producing music for about 6 years, but it's been only a year that i've started using logic to produce, record and mix. i got it due to research because i was going to start my first band and knew i needed to get professional software/hardware. so all of the songs i've produced so far for my new project (www.myspace.com/staticlineband) have been made on it and it's worked wonders for me. i've never really searched for plugins (like i did with nuendo for windows) as i've always found the built in plugins and effects were more that sufficient to accomplish what i wanted to with my songs and they way they'd sound. the only extra plugin that i use is guitar rig 3, but that's it.

however, i remember using the waves diamond bundle plugin for windows, and it got me wondering... i'd like to hear from other logic users here, if you guys recommend any particular plugins (if any of course) that are greatly recommended as top notch or plugins that would improve my productions (plugins with great effects, etc etc.. better than the built in effects logic packs)? i'm willing to spend cash on them as long as they're truly worth it. thanks for your time.

I think that Logic includes pretty much everything you need to get started, and then some, but maybe give some of these a look.

WaveArts PowerSuite 5 (http://wavearts.com/products/suites/power-suite/) Fantastic channel strip and other goodies.

Powercore (http://www.tcelectronic.com/powercorefamily.asp) A fantastic DSP platform, with some of the best reverbs available, which the hardware counterparts would cost thousands.

SSL Duende (http://www.solid-state-logic.com/music/duende/index.asp) SSL channel strips for a silly price in comparison to their hardware.

URS (http://www.ursplugins.com/) Amazing recreations of classic gear, but not cheap!

Komplete (http://www.native-instruments.com/index.php?id=komplete5&L=1) Pretty much everything you need synth wise, but NI do sometimes have issues with their support :(

303 (http://www.audiorealism.se/abl/abl2_announcement.htm) It's a 303, what more can you say, sounds as good today as it did back in the day.

Specrasonics (http://www.spectrasonics.net/index.html) Omnisphere and Trilogy are amazing, Trilogy isn't UB yet, but there is a wrapper, I never liked Stylus, but many do.

Lexicon PSP 42 (http://www.pspaudioware.com/indexen.html?url=http://www.pspaudioware.com/plugins/psp42.html;) and PSP 84 (http://www.pspaudioware.com/indexen.html?url=http://www.pspaudioware.com/plugins/psp84.html;) two fantastic delays.

Destroy FX (http://destroyfx.smartelectronix.com/) Some freebies, but MIDI Gater is a top little plugin.

Nice one :)

I could have listed more, but's it's too easy to get bogged down in trying and choosing plug ins rather than making the ones you have available right now work for you.

But check this website out, they have a database of pretty much every plug in available.

And for mac audio stuff

And the oldest and best logic forums are on

Don't think I've visited it in ages too, I just look up the old fave sites every now and then to see what's happening, I stopped my SOS subscription cause I'd just get gear envy and never get anything done with permanantly waiting for the next best thing :)

Any plugin which is AU (audio unit) is compatible with Logic. Check with the manufacturer that they support the version of Logic you have.

For some cool free plugins there's a list here:
