As many of you will be aware I'm a big fan of using my PlayStation 3 as a home media centre. The fact that it can do everything Apple TV does as well as play games and Live TV is a huge deal in a device of this price. Oh, and it's also a DVD and Blu Ray player as well.

Today Sony increased this lead even further by releasing an application called VidZone.

This application gives you access to a library of streaming music videos completely free of charge. Apparently there are around 10,000 videos available at the moment and all you need to do is search for an artist, choose a video and watch it. There are no commercials between the videos. I'm actually quite surprised they can offer this for nothing.

There are plenty of big name artists and I managed to find my favourite band, The Cardigans, on there. The only fault I can pick with it is that most of the videos seem to be 4:3. Not a big deal when you consider it's completely free. It is £1.29 for each video on iTunes.

Has anyone else tried it?

So, I downloaded it using my UK account. However, I get a fatal error that says something about traffic load and to try again later.

Either the service is being hammered (most likely) or they're blocking traffic from outside supported countries.

It does a check to see if you are in the correct country based on your IP address.

Video Quality isnt amazing, and my 1.6Mbs Connection struggles to Constantly Buffer the video (Faster than it plays)

The Service is pretty swish, but Its like a streamlined Youtube with better Audio.

Not a Massive addition in my eyes.

Sarcasmville.
Just installed down here in Australia. Doesn't want to get past the 'updating video feeds' loading part, which I left for about 15 minutes then gave up.

Anyone else had this? Could be people hitting the server pretty hard. I'll try again later tonight.
