I am a very new to the forum so please forgive me if I am going about this the wrong way. :D

I have an iBook G4 purchased in 2004 and I am running Panther OSX 10.3.9. I am not sure about the other details of my iBook as I cannot access the information from the screen.

It froze up and I could not force quit so I just powered down using the power button. It was slow to reboot.

So far, I have performed the single user boot 'command S' and typed in fsck -fy returning the following results:

'Volume Bit Map needs minor repair'
Checking volume information
Invalid volume free block count
(it should be 11310907 instead of 11310905)
disk0s9: I/0 error
**Repairing volume.
disk0s9: I/O timeout.

Does anyone know what this all means or does anyone have any suggestions that might be helpful in diagnosing and resolving the problem?

Thanks!

I took in my computer to Apple Store and they say my hard drive bit the dust. Thought I would update to let anyone else that is having this problem know what the diagnosis was.
