Clever Hockey Team Name

Anybody out there feeling creative? I need a name for my newly formed ice hockey team. It is a men's "D" (lowest level) league team. I am having a creative block. I thought of 3: Blue Thunder, Lucky Strike, The Jolt, and The Ice Holes :D. I am open to any creative names that anybody can come up with. Or you can let me know which of my names you like or dislike. All comments and help are appreciated. Have fun!

Ice Holes sound good. Blue Thunder reminds me of that stare he does in Zoolander, although I forget the name of it.

Wow. thanks guys. I thought of a couple of more this morning: the Attack, the Sting, and the Invasion. What do think? I have a pretty hefty list now. I'll go through them and narrow them down to 3 or 4, then ask my Assistant Captain which he likes. Thanks again.

Since you seem keen on names beginning with "The", how about nicking a name from one of those "The" bands that seem to be so big right now. Surely, The Animals, The Jam, The Hives, The Rapture, The Tragically Hip, The Walkmen, The Kills, or any other "The" band wouldn't mind if you used their name for inspiration.

How about The Slashers, The Threat, The Flying V's, The Geriatrics. :p

I vote for Blue Thunder. And pick a logo that's blue lightning, e.g., image (http://www.xmwallpapers.com/wallpaper/storms/lightning/images/Double%20Blue%20Lightning.jpg), or a stylized drawing like that.

But if you are from Pennsylvania, and are a Flyers fan, I would stay away from the whole Storm/Lighting/Thunder idea. Might bring up bad memories especially if Tampa Bay Takes Phillie.

The best team name ever goes to the (former?) team in Macon, GA. They were known as the Whoopee. (I think they've been on hiatus for a few years now. Not sure, though). Perhaps some sort of play on your hometown?

That's good, because my hockey team is also called the Iceholes. ;) We started out just as a bunch of English teachers clowning around over here but now we play an organized game every week. Just had a game at 8 AM this morning, in fact.

As far as logos are concerned, the AHL teams and ECHL teams have some interesting logos. (Or would you be making one yourselves?) Both of the above names sound cool.

Someone mentioned a twist on your hometown or something. How about The Ironmen? Or is the whole steel analogy way overdone there? (Too bad about the Flyers. I actually didn't care who won that one. I just was glad to see it go seven. Go Flames.)
