MacBook Unibody connect to extern Monitor (Acer AL1712)

Hello everybody!
I have a little problem... i bought a mini-port connector for my macbook to connect it to an external monitor...
if i connect the monitor with my macbook it sees my monitor, but on my monitor stands "geen signal"... what can I do???
 
You mean you use the MiniDisplayPort to DVI or VGA adapter? Which is it - DVI or VGA?

What do you mean by "geen signal"? Is it "green" or "no" signal?

Have you tried to connect the monitor cable to the adapter first, and then plugged the adapter into the port on your MB?
 
it's VGA...
"geen signal" means "no signal"
but on the macbook it detects the display...
