I can't suggest anything but things like:

Are always good to test with...

if you intend to recover these files, immediately stop using your computer. the files are still on your drive, but marked as "free space", so anytime you touch your computer, you could be overwriting the files. Find an undelete program, like Norton Diskdoctor, and boot from the CD. But don't keep using your computer until then! or you may lose all chance.

is this still good with tiger and the current up-to-date system, because i just got hit by the dumb stick myself two seconds ago on my mac. deleted over 90GB of important video.

Data Rescue (http://www.prosoftengineering.com/products/data_rescue_info.php) or File Salvage (http://datarecoverymacosx.com/) - they'll help you out....and as said above - the longer you use the drive and keep writing to it, the less chance of recovering old files....oh yeah!

blegh, i find that none of those applications really work for me. they never find any files on my harddrive. the best way to recover info is to backup =)
