iBook G4 USB Troubles

Just got my new iBook G4 a couple of weeks ago. I have a 2.5" 60GB hard drive in a USB 2.0 caddy (actually the drive from my old PC laptop). It works fine in Windows XP, but OS X doesn't recognize it at all. I tried a clean FAT32 reformat on XP, but that didn't help.

Apparently other people at Apple's iBook G4 forum (http://discussions.info.apple.com/WebX?14@26.xk5Zaf7bmA7.0@.599b3a15) have had similar problems with USB 2.0 thumb drives.

Does anybody here have any ideas? I'm on 10.3.3 here.

Have you tried opening Disk Utility and erasing it? See if that works.

Unfortunately, the drive doesn't show up in Disk Utility. :(
