i suggested that because they would have suitable instruments to pull the paper out with.

Thats what you have to do, or replace the drive

If its a large enough piece of paper, you might be able to slip a piece of tape inside with a thin spatula or wall spackle thingie and get the paper to stick to the tape.

If its a tiny piece of paper, well, hope you're good at fishing...! :)

Hmmm, why was your son that close to your MB without supervision? Luckily, my dd is older, however I would never let a child near such an expensive piece of equipment.

In any case, try some of the other suggestions....try a piece of double sided tape on a cd and see if you can get it out. Try some really long, thin tweezers, keep trying the eject button...and keep your child away from the computer!

Apparently I am :D I've practically raised my daughter, with never any problems of things getting stuck in computers, vcr's, dvds, toilets, etc. Other problems yes, but not any to ruin expensive pieces of equipment. She knew better than to touch mommy's stuff.

If a kid is that evil and ill-behaved to quickly run to a computer as soon as you are out of sight and stick a piece of paper in a drive in the 30 seconds it takes to use the bathroom, they need to be watched better.

In any case, back to the OP...keep us posted on how you get it out in case anyone else has a problem in the future

calling my kid evil and ill-behaved is so ill-behaved! :p

I invite you to meet my children, who challenge me every day, and who are allowed to use what I use, the way I teach them. They feel free to experiment, and sometimes something goes wrong - for me, that is life!

the "paper" is out - it's a bangle, as round and shiny as a dvd, I guess, Adam wanted to hear how it sounds....

love,
momo

Congratulations Dr. Momoolugbo on a successful paperectomy. Macbooks can be difficult patients, but your skill is obvious. I challenge you to a game of Operation. :D

In any case, back to the OP...keep us posted on how you get it out in case anyone else has a problem in the futureA couple of weeks ago I was babysitting my nephew, who is 2 years old.

He was eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, and watching Blues Clues with me.

The telephone rang, and I didn't even leave the sofa to grab it.

I look over after picking up the telephone, he's got a PB&J in our DVD player.

Things happen. He's a very, very respectful child. He pets our dog very nicely, sits at the computer while we play him some Dora or something, and won't eat in our living room, unless he has a table (this is because this usually isn't allowed, but sometimes it's a sort of treat on rainy days to eat a snack and enjoy some cartoons). Very good child, just curious because he sees us put things in our DVD player all the time.

=) Good example of kids being kids. He even said "sorry" after I told him kindly that lunch does not go in there, only movies do. They have to learn somehow.

I'v only got three, production takes so long
(for me as the "breeder", not for the "co-initiator"),
and is quite an investment.

9 months of production,
and then, they are not set to go, need some adjustments and installations before they work.

Mid-day re-boot is necessary for a minimum of 4 years, who wants to buy that!

Especially as reboot can take up to 12 hours in some cases! ;)
