When I bought my G4 I didnt know id ever want to burn dvds so did not get the super drive. Then had so much fun with imovie that I bought a Lacie burner. I didnt know that idvd didnt work with these. Then heard about the easter egg HPfurz. (do i just drag this to my home folder or should i do something else?) Anyway its not working for me it gets stck on stage 4 multiplexing and burning. Could this be because I am using idvd 4.0.1?
Also have been told that quick movie dosnt work on that many machines and I really need mpeg.
My lacie came with toast lite, but dont seem to get very far with that either.
Can anyone help??? I,m loosing my mind!!
Thank you

A few things to make sure of when using iDVD external burner hack:

I am having success using the following:

Lacie 8x DVD Burner (based on Pioneer 107)
iDVD 4.0.1
G4 powerbook running Panther

A few things to make sure:
- Hurz & Pfurz are in the home directory of the user (you've done)
- Control click on Burn (you've done)
- let the project FULLY encrypt before burning (customize>status)
- take into account burning can take HOURS

Good luck

A good place to look for feedback on various compatibility issues is the XLR8 Your Mac web-site at:
http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/feedback/patchburn2_feedback.html

The answer to my non-support issues was indeed Patchburn II, which now enables full function of my MSI drive with 10.3.3 on a G4-400.

Click this link to download, and try it out for yourself:

I was sceptical at first, but I can't believe I have a G4-400 running with a 4x Multi-standard DVD burner for £78.00!! (cheap here in the UK)

Good luck - I hope it helps.

Nigel.

As I also posted in the other thread you opened (no need to):

The new beta is for Panther, but there is a stable version for Jaguar. Download it here: http://www.macwelt.de/magazin/0310/PatchBurn1.1en.sit
