Since my Twitterific App is still dead I hope this comes out soon.

The Kevin Rose Blogg (www.kevinrose.com)

Wow that was quick, trying it out now, very solid looking, the organization of the content is cool, very mobile Safari/Pre card like. handling 2 accounts is pretty nice you have to edit the cards to put your different accounts where you want. :D downloaded the twitterific update too , I'll be trying both for awhile. I wonder if tweet deck will have a Pro App, I haven't seen any ads yet.

As a TweetDeck user, that looks awesome. Here's hoping the beta phase compltes quickly & without incident. Bring TweetDeck iPhone on!

According to mashable it will be officially announced at midnight tonight. It supposedly has already been submitted to apple for approval. Can't wait to try it out.

I just got the update for Twitterrific Premium that makes it work again. :) The update for free Twitterrific has been out for a day or two now.

Sorry, but Twitterific Premium ftw! I use Tweetdeck on the Windows laptop, but Twitterific on the Mac and the iPhone.

Just came out.

It's amazing.

Getting random API Limit errors. Also, is the only way to search for a particular name is to add a new column. Looking for an easy and temporary search like in Tweetie. Am I missing something?

It's amazing.

Agreed. The column view reminds me of Web OS's card view. It's really fast too. I'm in love with it. Definitely better than Twitterfon.

I have been playing around with TweetDeck for only 15 minutes but I love it. The interface is great and love how it uses multiple windows. I'm upset that I purchased Twitterriffic Premium last week. Would love to see what TweetDeck can do with push notifications. :)

There is def. another thread on this. One that's been going on for quite a while. The search feature wasn't even necessary since it's been at the top of the iPhone sub-section all night.

You can't. That's one of its biggest downfalls. I think I'll stick with Twitterfon, even with the crashes.

I think it's pretty cool so far. Definitely a change from the Tweetie/Twitterific ones.

EDIT: So, I have other columns on my desktop Tweetdeck client plus Facebook, did I not sync this correctly with my iPhone? I thought it's automatic sync .. what I am I missing here so I can mimik what's on my desktop to be on my iPhone?

Remoth
Jun 16, 2009, 10:04 PM
It really does work well. as for most apps, a quick reboot is recommended to get maximum stability, but it is snappy and works great. I'm sure they'll add trends in an update, but since I dont really use trends, this works great for me.

Didn't realize about no Trends -- I use that a lot with Tweetie. Eh, I guess I'll be using them both to see which one I gravitate more towards.

It's cool, but I think I like Twitterriffic Premium's UI a bit more. Certainly nice to have more free options, though.

So I figured out how to use trends.

When you are in the "columns" mode, add a new column, change the "column Type" to twitter search, and put anything you want in the search field. Like "#iphone, #Apple, #xbox, #iranelection, etc"

NOW its my favorite twitter app!

I have a review for Tweetdeck being uploaded as we speak to youtube. I like it a lot more than tweetie. Check out the review in a bit at my channel, Dannyar10. Should be available shortly.

I also like this app the best for twitter. I bought Tweetie recently, and I hate it.

TweetDeck will be my to-go twitter app from now on (unless tweetie has an update).

It was nice, but I thought Twitterriffic Premium's UI was cleaner and simpler. As far as free Twitter apps go, though, very good.

has anyone else noticed that the app is not showing all of the tweets? i loaded the application closed it and then it lost the last two tweets from two of my friends that it previously displayed.

the only way to see these 'missing' tweets was to go to the individuals tweets where its still shown in tweetdeck. this never happened in twittelator and is sort of a dealbreaker.

TweetDeck is pretty sweet but still lacking some features that I got used to from Tweetie and other Twitter apps. There's no nearby searches, Twitter Trends, or quick searching. The app seems to be very fast though. Scrolling through the timeline seems almost like it's going hyperspeed. Other than the missing features, it's seems to be a great contender in the battle of Twitter Apps.

AHhhh :D good find, although they should just change it to a column option that displays the trends like twitterific does, I still love the UI, a good match against Twitterifics which I love too.:D

I have to say I like what I see - I especially like the 'growl' notifications, as I wish that the new push notifications worked like that (globally)

Those aren't trends, those are hashtags. Trends are just the most popular tagged posts. For instance, right now at search.twitter.com the trends are

Trending topics: #Iranelection , #Haveyouever , Amedisys , OS 3 ,

iPhone , Tehran , TweetDeck , Apple , #gr88 , AEST

There's no way for tweetdeck to show you that these specific topics are the ones trending at any given time.

Fantastic app, apart from just one thing:

Is there a way to skip to the last unread message and then work back up to the current time? Scrolling the other way is kind of stupid as it tells you what people have been doing in reverse order.

Any help would be very appreciated. :)

Twitterific Premium has an update. You should get it. It came out yesterday and fixes that twitpacolpyse bug.

After spending a minute or two with it I must say that it seems incredibly fast! Looks like I'll at the very least, give it a chance. As people have said, I like the list of trends (like in twitterific) and the ability to see what's nearby. I wonder if those will be added/are they and need to discovered. I also can't seem to see how to delete a tweet but that might be there/seems like it could be added fairly easily.

How do you sync with your desktop client? My iPhone app is not finding my columns and groups from my desktop.

You need a TweetDeck account (assuming you haven't got one already).

In the latest version of the desktop client (0.26) click "settings" and then the "sync" tab. You'll be able to create an account from there.

You'll need to enter these additional account details into both your desktop and iPhone TweetDeck.

Hope that helps :)

Update: Scratch that, doesn't seem to be working for me either :/

Yes there are MANY bugs with this release. However, it is still really nice and hopefully they implement location/trends/ability to add multiple friends from a list when replying- in a future update.

I think I'm a bit confused about how apps in general work.

If I have TweetDeck on my iPod touch running with growl notifications on, can I go back to the home screen and launch something else, and get TweetDeck notifications? Do TweetDeck notifications appear on the home screen, like new mail on the Mail app icon?

I don't see the need to sit on Twitter - as with my home Mac, I'd rather it was just in the background, and I got notifications for messages, etc, which I can then look at if needed.

mine has an underscore too but it let me log in :)

maybe it's selective about who it wants to use it :p

You can also edit the cards if you want to move them physically. When your in columns mode hold down one of them and it will start wiggling along with the rest of the cards, then move them side to side just like you move your apps on your home page :)

Agreed, its a great app, but I need the tweets to show up oldest to newest. I don't see an option to change it. Not going to use it until that is updated.

Tweetie is all i use on my iMac or iPhone. I used to use Twitterfon on my phone and Lounge on my Mac.. until i tried Tweetie. Tweetdeck is way too big and cluttered for me.
