Apple Delays iPhone 3G S Pre-Orders to Prevent Early Delivery?

Annnd, the last flight from Santa Ana, CA to Memphis, TN just landed. There go my hopes of getting my new iPhone tomorrow :(

Well, looks like my phone will either be going to Moline (Which is only 45 minutes away from me) and arriving at 1 in the afternoon, or, going to Chicago (Which is 3 hours from me) arriving at 10:30 am. Shall be interesting to see how they get me my phone before 3 in the afternoon, but, I have faith!

How did you find the flight number, mine departed LOUISVILLE at 4:39 A.M. 6/19/2009 ...... very doubtful it will make it to iowa on-time for delivery today.

It is now in Philly, which means it is only a few short hours away! Have to admit, after it sat in Hong Kong for 2 days I didn't expect it to make it. I'll give UPS and Apple kudos if it does! :)

Mine is on that flight too. My tracking now shows Linthicum, which is BWI.

Edit: Mine are now out for delivery.

The lesson I am learning folks is never order through AT&T. I should have known Apple was smart enough to handle upgrades through their website, I just was thinking since I was going to require a data plan change from 2G to 3Gs, that AT&T would be best. I ordered on the 10th. It says shipped now, but all other line items went away, and it just shows a 3G shipped. I ordered a 3G and a 3GS. No tracking number either, just a blank.

Huh, I hadn't even gotten that far in my thinking. Good Question!

According to a quick web search, it looks like it's just a matter of backing up your old iPhone, then applying the backup to the new iPhone. Here are some articles I found on how to do it:

Yeah, just plug in your iPhone fill out your zipcode and last 4 digits of social and it activates your iPhone and transfer the account to the new one. then it asks you to unplug and plug back to restore your iPhone. Nice. :)

Activation could take up to 48 hours though. But I can still use it except to make phone calls.

I live in Philly, and mine was the same exact shipment as yours, the one that sat in "Import Scan" In Hong Kong....

I received mine at 9:30.

The driver has the final say as to whether to leave a package, regardless of whether the recipient presigns. If the driver feels the location is not secure, then the driver is not required to leave the package. This is stated on the form you signed.

i didnt have to sign anything to guy just handed me the box and said have a nice day. Usually even if it is sig required they just leave things in my area i just wasted a whole day waiting for nothing.

Just got my iPhone 3GS and the FedEx driver said lots of them said to deliver on Monday but his boss told him to get them all out today. Thank you Mr. FedEx boss.

My driver always leaves every package by my front door and he has never had any issues with the shipment release authorization forms from Apple. He leaves the package and takes the form.

Not today for reason. He left the infamous yellow sticky note right next to the release form.

I was upset. I called UPS and told them I'd pick it up myself tonight. However, I got lucky, I happened to have another shipment coming from Amazon so when he came back with that box (how inefficient) he also brought the iPhone with him.
