Help with Pantone references

I need to find the pantone references for the blue and grey in the image underneath.

I'm not a designer, student but just a fan of the team involved trying to get a pin made (with a different non TM design) but with the right colours. It's a one-off so can't really justify forking out lots of cash for the full Photoshop or Elements.

If anyone has time to help me out and send me the codes, I'd be truly grateful

The dark blue is mostly PANTONE 289 C (when taking a 5x5 average, there are different colours there), and the gray is PANTONE Cool Gray 3 C.

Where did the original image come from? is it a vector art file, such as an Illustrator eps or is it from a PC format like a Windows Meta file(.wmf)?
being able to open these files in an appropriate application can solve many color issues. I have been a desktop publisher for over 20 years and am very familiar with Pantone colors.

I concure with Mitt.... on the grey (cool grey #3) but I found the blue to be PMS 2757 U – still a dark blue but not 289

There's defiantly 2 different blues there.

As I tried to say in my first post: The blue on the sword consists of several variations of blue. Thus when you take a point sample in Photoshop it is quite coincidental which of the tones you get. That was why I took the colour sample whith the 5x5 average sample tool, and than I always got PANTONE 289 C on the dark blue of the sword.

Photoshop did the same thing. The colors are pretty close so I think it's a prefernce call.

I blame the .gif and no embedded color profile
