Okay... now that 3.0 is out, and we would all like to make use of some new features like Push notification... I think we should start a thread that lists any and all apps that have Push Notifcation enabled, and apps we would like to see with Push notification, and apps that are Pending Push Notification...

I am gonna start the list... feel free to add to any of the categories 😀

Apps with PUSH:
1. AIM **
2. Tap Tap Revenge (up and running)
3. IM+ 3.0 **
4. ESPN Score Center **

** Indicates that Push is supported by app, but is not Live.

PUSH Pending (either there are rumors about this, or developers' words)
1. Voice 4 Mail
2. Birthday Reminder

PUSH Wish List:
1. Facebook - it would be nice to see popups for chat and badges for wall posts/inbox
2. FML - badges/sounds would be nice so that you would know when a new FML was added
3. Twitter?? a twitter app with badges would be nice...

Textfree Lite also has push. Badges, sounds and text boxes.

i've been trying to test the textfree lite push, but it's inconsistent at best. i've had someone send me a text from it and it usually doesn't show up in any situation:

1. turned off (not powered down, just turned off)
2. turned on, but in home screen
3. turned on, but in another app

one of the push notifications came like 3 hours later (even though i had been connected via wifi the whole time).

i'm wondering if it's the apple servers that aren't functioning at 100% or whether it's something wonky with the textfree push notification. anyone share experience with properly functioning push?

WeatherAlert has push, and it works.

AreMySitesUp is waiting for a new version to be approved to provide push.

How is Weatheralert because I have heard mixed reviews and I am currently using TWC, and Weatherbug right now

Well I know some of the bad reviews were people who just needed a little help getting things configured. It takes a couple of tries to get all of the settings to take (I think that might be the push API, cos I found AMSU to have similar issues).

For me, it's working out just fine. However, I think the backend code is just scraping various weather services or some such, so probably the utility of the code is very much dependent on how well formatted weather warnings are for your area. I'm in the Chicagoland area, and it correctly gave me a bunch of storm warnings last week, and equally correctly hasn't pestered me since.

It's likely that other weather apps will sport similar features soon enough, so if serious weather isn't an issue, you might want to hang on. For me though, I'm quite happy to have a few different apps giving tornado warnings, since if one misses the warning the other might catch it. Consequently it was a safe gamble.

Help Please!

Ok ; so I downloaded 3.0. Now I push the textfree and this comes up :

'Connect to iTunes to Use Push Notifications'

"textfree" notifications may include alerts, sounds and icon badges.

So...... I open up itunes and nothing pops up telling me what to do? Anyone else know what's wrong/how to fix??

Facebook should have had push notification the day it came out. Seriously that and mail are the two apps where you really need it.

seems like it might have been an issue of the network that I connect to at work. push notification seems to be working okay at home.

btw, AIM (free & paid) with push have been released and seem to work as advertised. couldn't find the free version via the ipod touch app store, but it work via the direct link on tuaw.
