Buying Ipod Touch

If I'm buying a Ipod touch today, witch version come with it? Is the new version 3.0 is now pre-installed? Or the version 2.2 will still be the usual operating system for the ipod touch?

I'm guessing it will still be version 2, I remember last year when the update to version 2 was made most stores sold the iPods with version 1 for a slight discount and it took like 2 weeks for the iPods with the updated software to become available.
