MAC OS 9.X default word processors?

Hi All,
I am a newbee to this forum. I don't know where I would get reply. Here is my query:

I have crated the RTF documents (including some images embedded in them) on WIN 2K.
Could anyone please tell me whether these RTF documents will open in MAC OS 9.X.? If not, how to go about this so that they will open in RTF. Please take into cosinderation that these rtf files contain the images inside them.

Also what are the default word processors that come with MAC OS 9.X?

Free word processor w/ Mac OS9? None. You'll have to get Office 98 for it.

There are no default word processors for the Mac in any OS.

You have to buy them, though AppleWorks is probably the cheapest unless you're a student that can get Office on the cheap.

Although some machines came with some wordprocessors, it's not part of the OS.

All you get with the OS are text editors, to look inside files, like SimpleText and TextEdit.

Though many people would download more feature packed text editors like BBEdit.

Have you tried double clicking the file to see what happens? RTF is a pretty standard format so I'd be surprised if SimleText doesn't open it. The images might be a problem though. What about opening them in Netscape/IE/whatever? A web browser ought to be able to do it.

I would recommend Word 98 or Word 2001. If you have it, AppleWorks will open RTF files.

Yes, but he cannot edit it them in a web browser. Otherwise, he could've saved them in HTML. :rolleyes:
