I have the 3G and am on Rogers... I use the US itunes store... i had problems with the internet tethering option - it wouldnt show up in settings on the iPhone - after restoring my iphone with an old backup... i also had the phone previously registered for development and the developers build of 3.0 on it... Apple told me to use the 'correct' itunes store... Now that i got my 3G S im worried the internet tethering will also disappear when i try to set up and restore an old backup... any advice before i set it up? thx

Hmm.... I also don't have the tethering option... Are you saying that we need to use the correct "iTunes Store" in order to get tethering ? Or "Restoring from an old backup" takes off tethering ??

I really need tethering and have to figure out how to get it....

After a bit of digging around the internet, I came to know of 2 solutions:
1. Using a MobileConfig
2. Use a Carrier Update

MobileConfig did not help.... BUT, Carrier update using iPhoneTether brought a new option called "Cellular Data Network" under Network settings....

So, now I just need another Carrier update which adds Tethering to it.....

Here is iPhoneTether (Great App!)
