Bad news with 3.0 and GPS devices

Well WTF???? I thought the new bluetooth 2.1 (3GS) was supposed to support this!!! Am i doing something wrong?
 
When tethering over Bluetooth.*

AT&T still hasn't worked out their tethering options. (But you can search the forums for the semi-shady hack.)
