I seem to be having a problem with my Time Capsule.

It works for a while, then just doesnt continue its backups. Just says Preparing backup and nothing else, for hours!

Have tried wiping out starting again, but give it a couple of weeks and back to the start.

Anyone had anything similar???

I had preparing backup for ages too. The trick, just keep waiting. Sometimes it takes some time so let it do its thing, especially after you have installed new programs/copied large files.

Mine does that often too.

I also find that when I click on the Time Capsule on the Finder sidebar it takes absolutely ages for it to connect to see the files on the drive.

Instead of doing backups over AirPort, try using a wired Ethernet connection for a while. The speed boost of doing so may help sort things out better.

Also, check Console (/Applications/Utilities/Console.app) and do a log filter for backupd. There may be some useful information in there regarding why the backups are taking so long.

Did that, and got the following returned:

After a lot of trial and error (and one TC being sent back to the Apple Store) I managed to complete the initial back-up of the two Macs in the house with the Time Capsule via Ethernet (Time Capsule added to existing Network but with wireless turned off). After the initial back-up, I changed its configurations to turn the wireless on and for the first 2 days all was OK. The Time Capsule backed-up both machines as it should. For the past 2 days, it just says 'Preparing' and then nothing happens until a 'Failed' error message shows up. I reset the Time Capsule a few times, turned it off & on a number of times and basically nothing... very very frustrating.

The error message on the Console is as follows:
23/06/2009 11:41:57 AirPort Utility[714] Could not connect the action importOK: to target of class AAUDocument
23/06/2009 11:41:57 AirPort Utility[714] Could not connect the action importCancel: to target of class AAUDocument

Anyone's got any ideas on how to fix this?

Thanks
