Html editor for mac

Im looking for a html editor like frontpage on windows to use on my new mac

ive been using mozilla free composer but there must be a more feature program out there

I need it to be a simpleone where i can type and it convert it to html for me

I dont know html code writing so i need a good program that converts for me

if you need WYSIWYG html editor, i'd go with Dreamweaver. but that one costs money.

i'm sure there are cheaper alternatives but i'm personally unaware of any... (i have Dreamweaver and i use that along with BBEdit Lite...)

BBedit is an excellent application, you can use it to edit virtually any text file, html, css, javascript etc. I use it everyday and suggest it highly.

well, it's not WYSIWYG. and the orig. poster claims to not know any HTML codes, so i don't think BBEdit will help.

Get Dreamweaver. Yes, it costs more. Yes, it is more than you need at the moment, but once you have the power of Dreamweaver at your fingertips, you'll start doing things you never thought you could do before. The nice thing about Dreamweaver is that it is a professional-grade application that is user-friendly enough for a beginner.

Freeway does what you're referring to inexpensively, but the options are limited. If you just need to put up a blog or a simple site, there are dozens of specialized tools (including .Mac) that will have your stuff up in no time, but you will get little out of them in the long run.

Trust me on this one, you won't regret switching to Dreamweaver. It eats FrontPage for lunch.

You could try RapidWeaver too. It's only $29 and works damn well for basic webpages etc.

If you want to insert pictures etc., you're going to need some basic knowledge of HTML - which can be learned in 5 minutes.

the person that started the thread obviously needs something easy to use and you come on recommending a much harder to use pro level app? besides, the new dreamweaver for mac is getting pretty bad reviews so far.

freeway has been around for a long time and the reason they have lasted is because they make a great product. freeway makes pro quality pages with the same quality as much higher end apps. freeway is also the only app that can claim 100% wysiwyg when transfered to the web.

no offense to anyone but some people really need to work on their advice skills. you don't recommend expensive pro level apps to beginners that want simple wysiwyg. again, no offense.

i checked out bbedit but thats of no use to me dreamweaver looks great from the demo i downloaded but its kind of expensive

I only need a simple editor composer to write pages for like ebay and maybe a homepage if i learn how

thnaks yeah as far as frontpage thats all i had on my old windows box but since my new ibook i hardly ever boot windows anymoreand i only have to put this ibook to sleep

in fact since i bought this thing i havent shut it down yet just put it to sleep
