I've always been interested in programing, but I never could find something that would help me learn code or anything.

Best bet is to buy a book for $50. A cheap investment in the long run in my opinion.

I put "introduction programming free online course" into Google and this (http://math.hws.edu/javanotes/) came up first on the list. Will that work?

Try your local public library. Mine has hundreds of books on learning to program.
