i d/l the free versions of tweetdeck, twitterfon and twitterific to try them out before buying one....

so far i do not like twitterific... too slow and didn't seem to want to respond....

i like both tweetdeck and twitterfon.... but not crazy about tweetdeck's black background (and couldn't find a setting to change it...

i've been looking at threads on here and it seems tweetie is a LOT of people's fave! still? if not.... which one?

I've really begun to follow trends and searches so with that Tweetdeck for the iPhone is a no-brainer. Tweetie is still very smooth and slick and great looking but there's just a few things I don't know why they're taking their sweet time on -- like notifications of numbers of how many new unread tweets/DM's/@ replies, etc.

Though I still think that with more updates Tweetdeck is definitely going to pull into the lead.

Yeah, I still think Tweetie is the best one out there. I tried TweetDeck today and just like their desktop app there's just too much going on. I like the simplicity of Tweetie and it does everything I need it too.

Take a look at TwitterFon. It works pretty well for me.

Tweetdeck has a major failure and that's that you can't follow trends. For a free app, it's the best but I think Tweetie remains the overall best (and we still have to get a new Tweetie update soon).

I think with twitterfon and tweetdeck, you are set. I use tweetdeck for the group feature(it imports from your desktop client) and twitterfon for everyday tweets. I think using a combination of tweet applications is your best bet.

Tweetie is basically Twitterfon with more options. I used Twitterfon forever after i quit using Twinkle and i finally bought Tweetie and tried it.. and it's very much worth the money. Tweetdeck is just.. ew.

I agree 100%. Tweetie is still the best even though it still hasn't been updated for the twitpocalypse (damn you iTunes!). For right now I'm using Twitterrific. Tweetdeck is a joke right now. You can't follow tends with all the things happening in Iran. It's messy and that makes it worse with a 3.5" screen. They released it too early.

I can't wait until Tweetie 2.0 comes out. It still amazes me that Tweetie on the iPhone has more features than the desktop app (even though that's fantastic itself).

Agreed. The update has been submitted for a week now.

Hint to Apple: employ some more people to review apps.

I've been using Twitteriffic lately. It has a few kinks to work out, but right now I think it's the best looking and best experience for a twitter app. (and I've bought 4 Twitter apps! so I do quite a bit of review)

The current version of Tweetie isn't completely screwed by it but some things don't work properly, like searching (which returns a single result).

There's so many other great Twitter apps out there for the iPhone/iPod. Just because Tweetie has had the most recognition by being advertised by Apple months ago, doesn't been it's THE best.

I agree, Tweetie is a fast, slick and great app. But does NOT by any means have the most options, features etc.

Waiting on the twitpocalypse update as well (in addition to Beejive). I can only imagine how maddening as a developer it must be to get negative ratings while the app is sitting with Apple.

I swear by both Twittelator Pro and Tweetie.

TP has the edge in that it auto-refreshes/updates itself.

Tweetie has the edge because you can actually delete your own tweet (if you don't like it) and I find it easier to follow someone back on it.

So I keep both!

Twitterlator Pro is the best to me. I tried all except tweetdeck. I am not sure that I want to change from twitterlater pro. I heard tweetdeck is just like the desktop though. Search is good on TP, but TD on desktop is awesome. If they implemented it good, I will surely try it out.

I use (and quite like) Twitterriffic Premium, but the iPhone as a platform is certainly not lacking for good Twitter clients. Much if it comes down to subjective judgement.

I use Twittelator Pro and TweetDeck. If I haven't checked my stream for awhile I like the TweetDeck groups but for most functions prefer Twittelator Pro. I find it to be better than Twitterfon, Tweetie Twitterific. I also use Birdhouse for when I think of something I want to post later.

Twitterific Premium is the only one on my iPhone. I love it. I love the fact that it uses icons at the bottom, you know? Every single Twitter client on the iPhone uses the same old boring black bar at the bottom. BORING.

Twitterville has got some great features but is down due to the twitpocolypse. Tweetie just runs fast but is very low on features. TweetDeck is a complete UI MESS. Twitteriffic is pretty cool.

I'm mainly using a developer build of Twitterville. Got great stuff such as Notes, Themes, Trends, Search, Nearby, Twitterurly, Watch Users, URL-Shortening, Location, Choice of image services, Spread Tweet, etc.

I've used twitterific prem and twinkle for EVER. Good apps. Just bought tweetie, and seems as soon as the apacotweet or whatever is fixed, it will once again lead the way. It seems superior.

How so? Twitterfon is just Tweetie with less features. Tweet Deck is an F'n train wreck. Way too much clutter on it.

Everyone has their own preference. For me, having a unread count is a big factor and Tweetie doesn't have that. Tweetie also won't load the replies and DMs until you click on it. For me that's all negatives. I don't mind the "clutter" of TD, I think it looks great and easy to navigate.

Plus, I like free. :) anyways, everyone has their own opinions.

I've been beta testing for the dev of SimplyTweet and I'll just say that there's A LOT on the way. It truly is one of the better iPhone Twitter apps.

I use Tweetie now because I got the 3GS and he hasn's added my new UDID to his list. Only thing Tweetie has on it is the dark theme. As soon as that is implemented in ST, I'll be right back to it and won't look back.

As an afterthought, Twitterific's icon is hideous.

I don't know what you mean. The twitterrific icon is the most well known icon for twitter. Many people have stolen or copied it.

I also can't wait for tweetie 2.0. Twittlelator Pro has introduced way more features than Tweetie has recently.

BTW, what happened to the Tweetie update? the developer submitted it three weeks ago. Twitterrific was updated in a couple of days for this. The App Store is way too slow. Tweetie right now is almost unusable because of this.

I'm using Twitterrific, and while the GUI is georgeous, the UI is horrible.

That slack-jawed bird with the vacant stare is the best known twitter icon??

I always thought the "t" on the Twitterfon icon was the most popular.

Tweetie is pretty broken now with the search/trend problems of only loading 1 tweet at a time. I think they said they submitted the fix to Apple but of course Apple is taking their sweet time ..

.. or has this been fixed already?

I've been switching between Tweetie and TweetDeck, currently using TweetDeck now, I like how it syncs your groups with the Desktop version, yes, at first it has a lot going on, but you can customize it to meet your needs/wants..

But between Tweetie and TweetDeck, you can't go wrong with either one.

Twitterriffic stores Tweets. It's UI is less than perfect.

Tweetie is gorgeous. It doesn't store tweets for offline use.

Everything else is either a UI mess or not free :D
