View Full Version : iPhone 3GS dropping from 3G to EDGE, 3G phone doesn't

I've noticed that my phone keeps dropping the 3G connection in favor of EDGE. However, my friend, sitting next to me, using the 3G phone, retains his 3G connection.

Is anyone else having this problem?

This is happening to me every few minutes. I have 4-5 bars on 3G, then it goes down to none, then switches to EDGE. Sometimes it only stays there for a few seconds before switching back to 3G, other times it stays on EDGE until I reboot the phone. Very annoying.

try getting your sim replaced by at&t. It helped my connection issues.

Sorry to be grave-digging, but I'm getting the same with my 3GS here in Ireland. Right next to me my Nokia E71 retains its 3.5G connection so I'm really curious as to what's causing this.

Could a software update fix this?

This is an issue I've been having as well. Started happening 6-26-09 for me. Finally put a call into AT&T on Friday 7-10-09 and they have acknowledged the issue, but told me it's something to do with their tower in the area where the router keeps switching??? Hope it gets fixed soon as this is ridiculous.
