Problem with Rebel XT (saving as wrong format)

Over the last couple months I've been shooting exclusively RAW, and occasionally my Rebel XT misbehaves - occasionally a couple photos from every shooting session are saved by the camera as JPEGs rather than RAW. I have the settings on RAW only, and I can't explain this behavior. Any help?

I noticed that using the Green Square mode (which I only used like once to check it out) - it saves the files in JPEG only...

I should add that I shoot mostly in AV mode...not sure whether it makes a difference.

Sometimes the mode dial can accidentally be turned to automatic and thus explain the JPEG files. This has happened to me on occasion.

Go into your menus and make sure your AV mode doesn't automatically default to JPEG...
