Apparently, they also pledged to ease off of PowerMac revisions to just once a year.

I think these are good outcomes. It would be interesting to see if they actually lay down rough time frames they plan between all updates... PMs once a year as mentioned, OSX upgrade once every 18-24 months...

I don't mind the slower rate of OSX update releases, but slower PM updates? Why not update them every 6 months OR whenever IBM has a cool, new processor out for it? It doesn't make any sense to follow a set update schedule when it comes to your most powerful desktop because it won't be so powerful in 12 months. If IBM brings out a new proc 7 months after a previous update, then by all means add it into the PM towers.

Yeah, I was being sarcastic. PM updates every 12 months is rediculous.

I agree.

Too-frequent OS X updates are a pain in the butt to deal with (except for security updates, obviously). But not updating the PowerMacs with new chips whenever possible? That doesn't make sense.

Calm down...he was just making a scarcastic remark. IBM has just had some trouble with with error rates at thier fishkill plant, and thats why the G5's havent been updated yet.

The only positive part is that when you purchase a new Mac it isn't outdated in 6 months. It's sad that there are problems with the G5 that are not being fixed. :(
