i'm trieing to jailbreak my ipod touch 2g 3.0 with redsn0w on my vista PC and after it procces the firmware and opens a window "prrepearing jailbreak data its just closes....i've tried xp compatability mode and putting the ipod in DFU before lunching redsn0w....same thing........can you PLZPLZ help me??????

I beleive it said it was incompatible with the 2G in the first place... Not so sure but plz take another look at it, I beleive the version that IS compatible with the 2G touch, ultrasn0w, was released today.

re-download redsn0w form here (http://torrents.thepiratebay.org/4967908/redsn0w-win_0.7.2.zip.4967908.TPB.torrent) its the official one and try again also just to let you now only redsn0w works for the ipod touch 2gs and ultrasn0w is for unlocking the iphone 3g

I had the same frustrating problems. Put Vista into safe mode(w/networking). Worked the first time. Also run as administrator.

redsnow worked for me on my ipod touch 2g no problem, but I'm using XP not Vista...

sorry for being a moron in PC's but how do i get to safe mode??

I had the exact same problem. My brother also had that problem on a mac. We had to use the 0.7 version of redsn0w. For some reason anything after that just doesn't work as well. Here is a link:

I know it says 0.7.1 on the zip file but when you run the program it is actually just 0.7. Give it a try.

Or download the latest version, which is 7.2.
That should set things straight. Just follow the instructions and you'll be all good! :)
Redsn0w is the jailbreaking application/program.
Since you're using an iPod, ultrasn0w doesn't matter at all for you.

didn't you read the first post i said I'm on redsn0w 0.7.2 and it doesn't work.....:( i explained there...

My JB on W7 would only work after i de-selected Icy to install, and only installed Cydia.
I tried all compatabilities etc.

So if all else fails, try only installing Cydia.

You don't need to be rude to the folks helping you. I would make sure you have all of the vista updates your net frameworks and such don't even know if it would use them but better be safe.

Its things like this that make me happy I have a macbook :D
