Remote App - iTunes won't accept passcode

Hi, i'm running latest iTunes and 3.0 iPhone but can't get iTunes to accept the passcode issued by the iPhone.

I start up the remote app, it issues a passcode. iTunes sees the iPhone and goes to the enter passcode screen, after entering the 4th digit, all digits are immediately cleared with a beep.

Any ideas? How do you get the iPhone remote app to pair with iTunes?

Note: I am connecting over an ad-hoc network i created on my MBP, iPhone can see Apache over the network.

Sorry to dredge up this really old thread, but this is the exact problem I'm having with iTunes 10.2.1 (1)

fix the remote application to link to itunes
