Will 3G work on and iphone with 3.0 on tmobile? I currently have and iphone 3G running 2.2.1 on tmobile and I can only get edge. Does anyone know?

No, Tmobiles 3G is not compatible with the Iphone 3G or 3GS.
Different frequencys.

No, it will not. T-Mobile's 3G network runs on the 1700MHz frequency, with which the iPhone, nor any other phone not made specifically for T-Mobile's 3G network, will connect. You'll only be able to get an EDGE connection unless you make some major hardware changes to the iPhone yourself.

No. You will still only get EDGE. T-Mobile's 3G in the US runs on a different frequency than AT&T's.

I get the E (edge) sign - but cant use it? Do you use Edge?

I want to upgrade to 3.0 with ultrasnow - has anyone done it? How? Do you install redsnow first?

Very easy, I just did it today.
You just gotta jailbreak and then install unltrasnow thru cydia.

I've already updated my iPhone 3G from 2.2.1 to 3.0 unlocked with ultrasn0w. I am on T-Mo currently. To answer your question, you must first download pwnage tool and create the 3.0 custom firmware for your iPhone. Once your iPhone is jailbroken, head over to the dev team website: http://blog.iphone-dev.org/ and they'll give you instructions on how to unlock your iPhone to work with T-Mo or any carrier. Also, if you are going to be using your iPhone 3G on T-Mo's network you can only get EDGE in the US. It's a hardware limitation as others have mentioned. good luck. send me a message if you need help :]
